One American's Opinion on Russian's Annexation of Crimea and the possibility of a Ukrainian Russian War.
Since the start of the Ukraine and Crimea situation caused by Russia, it was almost immediately clear after the annexation of Crimea that Russia has some serious plans in the works for furthering it's reach into lost lands they once owned. The timing and early developments did not gloss over the factuality of Putin trying to seem almost innocent, actually claiming that there was an outcry from Russian speaking civilians. It was this "outcry" that initiated sending in russian military to save Crimea from some unknown issue. If Russia didn't have plans to invade, then why the abrupt end of adoption proceedings before hand? (SEE STORY HERE)
Astonishing enough, Russia is claiming they are not involved in the newest problems developing in the Ukraine. Even though enough evidence has been produced to question Russia's statements, their military actions beforehand in Crimea stiffened untrust in any statement Russia issues at this point.
While comments from those in the ukraine that do not support russia (assuming these comments from both sides are actually, pollutes what Putin has claimed to be a reason for his taking of Crimea. One of which is the neo Nazis claim. Which Putin used as a reason for his military becoming involved in the early stages of Crimea. Russia claimed the neo nazi issue to be a dangerous problem in Crimea.
While Russians themselves openly admitted that russia on its own account has the largest population of neo nazis in the entire area. Factor in that with a claim of the largest density per capita of nazis living in Russia for all of Europe. It seems what Putin says doesn't have much meaning as an excuse for his actions.
Watching what is unfolding at this moment in the ukraine from an American viewpoint, respectively my own, I fear for the Ukrainian people. Russia seems to be unable to find a diplomatic avenue that will provide them with what they need. Which in my opinion, what Russia is after is the reclaiming of lost territory. How far Russia is willing to go to be whole again, most likely isn't going to stop at the Ukrainian borders.
The World Response
It looks like the world is keeping a carefully aimed eye at the situation, but has yet to really look? That is the best way I feel I can describe what I see happening as the world watches Russia consume the ukraine one small piece at a time. The tensions are high across the board, with America leading the way by seemingly trying to help, but not limited by guarantee of just using sanctions. Supposedly now willing to supply the Ukrainian government with help in the form of aid and by that I mean money.
Although War or the use of American military was claimed to NOT be an option for America, escalating issues elsewhere, along with the build up of American forces in Poland, places the option for military use closer to the edge of only being an option should russia not be able to stop with just the Ukraine. Which I think is what we are going to witness. The USA will most likely just watch and slowly allow russia to take the Ukraine and then based on Russia's next move determine if we need to use our military as a deterrent.
America is currently riding on a roller coaster of bad options and escalating issues with Yemen, Afghanistan, and now Russia. Geneva convention or not, it remains clear, at least from this Americans perspective....Russia isn't going to keep their boys on the lines behind the Ukrainian borders for much longer, and as we prepare to watch and wait, we knew all along they were already positioned there for a reason much greater than exercises and combat drills.
NATO has seemingly dropped the ball in responding to the Ukrainian people, and while the presence of NATO forces are focused on other regions, America seems to be the only country pressuring for resolve from Putin. Even though it seems the one other country that may be more effected by Russia's advancement is the UK, it's America in the front of everything.
While the Shell oil corporation has allegedly made a back alley deal with Mr.Putin since the taking of Crimea, the only real response of any real interest has been from the Ukrainian government with promises of escalating their efforts to combat the terroristic events taking place inside the country. Claiming that the Geneva deal was off the table, the Ukrainian leadership seems to be willing to stand up to Russia. At least with words, the actions so far have been nonexistent.

Dangerous Waters Ahead Everywhere.
