POLITICAL HUMOR | JOHN ANDREW BOEHNER

Laughing While You Can: How Political Humor Can Shame Politicians.

American political cartoons have been around for a very long time. They can be insightful reminders of fact or damaging anecdotes of truthful opinion. Political humor can encompass the feelings that Americans might have on legislation issues or on a singular politicians formidable stance.

Besides cartoons, Political humor comes in many forms. It's humor can range from paper print to Television or the Internet. Political funniness can be found everywhere in American media and can be a hard to dodge. It is one of the most hated influential aspect of political life.

Sarcasm being the main ingredient in most forms of political jabs, has it's value as the mainstay food for thought. From the ever subtle ticklish remark to the down right blatant comedic stab, humor it would seem, has become the greatest enemy to a politician caught in it's cross hairs.

Recently the post below from TakePart.com on Facebook earned a tremendous amount of attention. The picture demonstrates exactly how this politician would look if he was to wear the outfit of an commercially endorsed NASCAR driver. Logo patches of every business lobbyist adorns the suit that John Boehner is wearing and tells us who he really works for and how politics really work in our country. Laughable? Yes, but also damaging and honest.

This is how political humor works. Thankfully its also a example of how our freedom of speech works. You couldn't publish something like this about Russia's President Putin if you lived in Russia. Doing so could land your butt in prison or becoming a Russian hit-man's target. Point is, we are lucky to have this form of humor, and we should embrace the intelligence behind such a picture. It's funny, but it is also not so funny. It can make you chuckle for a few seconds, than leave you asking yourself a few questions. Like, for instance why this is even allowed, and how is this man still holding his position?

I have no love for politicians. I view them like car salesmen. They dress like one, they talk like one, and in the end they are just trying to sell you junk. I'd rather buy a car from a private citizen, and elect people into office who never held a political seat.

Anyways, laugh while you can America. Johnny boy I'm sure isn't happy at all with this picture, but then again, shame can only be a bother if you're bothered with it.
