Russia Ukraine: Opinion and Overview on Latest Events

Nuclear Missile Test, Flyovers and Putin's ability of Confusing the World

If you have been keeping track of the news on Russia and Ukraine, you might have noticed a change here and there of the Russian diplomacy. From making threats of sharp actions against Washington DC to flyovers near the California coastline.

Now Putin has started rhetoric about pulling back Russian troops from Ukrainian border, yet those troops still remain hunkered down just outside of the Ukraine, where they have been since satalite pictures were released showing them ready to enter at any moment.

With an ever changing dilemma occurring daily, it is hard to tell exactly what is going on in the Ukraine. Reading the news, watching the news, or paying attention to any social media, you might have noticed a constant upheaval of stances between Europe the United States, and Russia. From threatening actions by Russia, and sanctions from Canada, the European Union, France and Germany, it is hard to say which direction the Ukrainian incident is heading towards.

Just recently Russia launched two intercontinental nuclear missiles in a supposed test that was scheduled since last November. Arguably these tests came just shortly after Russian bombers were intercepted over Guam and just outside of the California coast. Although the bombers turned off and returned home, the reasoning behind these actions remain unclear.

Why would Russia send Bombers towards the United States, launch test nuclear missiles and then make the claim they are pulling back their troops from the Ukrainian border?

All that seems to be happening is a confusing and hard to decipher set of circumstances that add up to nothing more than more questions. What are Americans and the rest of the world supposed to think? Is the president of Russia just playing his cards, or is he doing exactly what he wants to do, which seems to be making everyone question what he's going to do next.

Perhaps it is nothing more than a change of heart or something much more devious, it's too hard to know what Russia is really after. A peaceful resolve, or more provocation, and increased fear? It seems no matter how you look at the way things are working today, tomorrow it could move to even more escalating issues.

The Russia Ukraine incident has not changed dramatically since Crimea. While the Ukraine government has thought the pro Russian activists were actually Russian soldiers, it seems in fact they are fighting the Ukrainian people. Nothing has noticeably changed since Crimea was taken by Russian force, except for increased tensions and further sanctions.

Russia's best means of negotiations fall short, from threatening actions, to now a questionable retort of calming down, what can anyone tell what will happen next.

Ex President Bush, when he met Putin during his term said that he could see a "fellow soul" in Putin's eyes, today though during an interview, Bush said Putin has changed. He has gone from wanting to become a powerful and trustworthy partner to the west, to now not wishing to cooperate with anyone other than his fellow communist country China.

To turn a blind eye and pretend the Ukrainian and Russian problem is just going to go away, would be a very poor judgement call for anyone. I would recommend staying vigilant, and staying informed.

NATO forces are at the ready in Poland, Germany, and in surrounding countries outside of Russia. If Russia should continue down this path, and force the hand of NATO to respond, the European Union and the United States will ultimately become involved.

My opinion is this, no diplomacy can be found in the cross threats between all the countries involved. Yes I believe that war is definitely on the horizon. Hopefully I am wrong, but with all the confusion, threats, actions, sanctions, and military movements, you might just want to stock up on some dry rations in your basement. That's if you have a basement, and if not find one.
