Obama's Speech 9-10-2014

Obama's Speech 9-10-2014

A few words that came to mind when I listened to his speech.

Contradictions. Praising our misfortune of being a free country. Our responsibility to ensure that justice prevails. Etc etc etc.

He defined our place in the world as a leader of democracy and a country that has to be envolved in the situation there, without a choice.

"Without American boots on foreign soil" Yet, than he said more boots will be needed. 470+ more US soldiers as military advisors will be deployed. As a contradictory comment, you couldn't find a better example.

Obama has no real solid strategy, just hopes of the UAE, Turkey, Kurds, and other unreliable contingency plans of a collation. A collation that is expected to join in without reservation. All without a serious pledge from any of the sides on the Iraqi border, Obama seems to believe there will be help from other countries like Saudi Arabia.

While a few countries are willing to supply a few things, like cargo planes, air bases and bombing runs, nobody has yet to say they were willing to toss boots into the mix. Countries like Germany for instance have turned away from committing troops and aircraft.

Syrian airstrikes? Obama is planning to do just that. How will Russia and China play a role with their last statements about interference with any US moves against Syria in the beginning of 2014. So how can we not ruffle their feathers if we are now going to hit Syrian targets? Russia has already proclaimed any attack in Syria would be deemed as an act of aggression against Russian interests. While China has yet to weigh in, but it is expected to bed with Russia's statements.

Sen. John McCain and Jay Carney shortly after Obama's Speech went witless in an argument over facts, dates and history about what we could have done and did not do. Although I get a laugh whenever I hear McCain talking about twitter traffic, his argument always seems to be more about war mongering. As if he rather had seen a residual force, meaning he has no concern about the lives of American forces, rather than seeing our military coming back home, he would rather see them standing behind a fence protecting dust and sand.

Way too many "I told you sos" Without any resolution.

When I hear McCain talk about Obama, there is this undertone of "I hate the fact I lost to him" Almost a note of sore looser in his breath. Anyways, McCain, if he made it to office I think we would have thousands of men and women being put in harms way right now verses the few 1,800 there now.

Possible Ways to Defeat ISIL/ISIS

Airstrikes alone will not defeat the ISIS group. The comments that have been coming from popular politicians and media gurus, retired military leaders and likewise all say we will need more boots on the ground. Advisors and security forces is not going to be enough to take the fight to the enemy properly.

ISIS's ideology dictates they believe that their group is blessed by the prophet Mohamad. How hard would it be to call ISIS out to a challenge? If they believe their are blessed unilaterally by their prophet, then wouldn't they have a firm belief in winning a challenge?

I admit that the idea of challenging ISIS is far fetched, but maybe it's possible.

What about cutting the flow of cash and oil sales ISIS is partaking in? Why don't we draw red circles around their oil strongholds and destroy or retake them?

What about this so called ordained representative of the prophet Mohammad? Why not destroy him? Why not figure out where he is, and bomb the hell out of him? Bagdadi isn't exactly shy to the camera, and has made a certain mosque his outlet for speeches of his ordaining. While it is unsure if he ever actually leaves the sheltering of that mosque, if he does then he would be easier to target, but if not, it means an airstrike is out of the question.

The main points of Obama's speech seemed more about clarifying his past statements over the last few weeks, even his poorly chosen words during his meeting with NATO. His address to the nation more seemed about fixing a bunch of oops and oh boys that he muttered prior to his "speech" as an address to America.

The war or anti terrorist program we are taking part in, seems to be more like a slice of swiss cheese, full of holes, and lacking taste. Actually the cheese is getting old and moldy. Yet we are being told we are taking a bite anyways. Yum, huh?

Lets face the facts. Our government pulled out of Iraq, without leaving a strong residue force behind to keep peace. We also left behind a tremendous amount of military equipment charged to the Iraqi military to keep safe.

ISIS managed to obtain tanks, rocket powered BDMs, Anti Armor rockets, AA weapons, surface to surface missiles, small arms and heavy weapons. All from the surplus we left behind for the Iraqi army, who just walked away and surrendered their weaponry.

So, now we have a mess to clean up, and nothing else. Are we being provoked? Yes, but we took off the leash before we trained the dog. This isn't about ISIS, it's about American government having no real judgement or hind sight. Unfortunately, that's the normalized protocol of our government, making a mess, and then asking someone else to clean it up.
